Global Village started out in the form of a number of kiosks in 1996 located on the Creek Side opposite to Dubai Municipality. It then later shifted to the Oud Metha Area near Wafi City where it welcomed visitors for 5 years.
Global Village is Dubai’s leading family entertainment and cultural attraction. It is world’s largest tourism, leisure and entertainment project. It offers unique shopping experience through its 32 pavilions represents more than 75 countries. The pavilions showcase a country’s handicrafts, merchandise and cuisines. It offers visitors an amazing array of festivals, shopping and entertainment in an open-air theme park. The pavilions taking part in Global Village will be Afghanistan; Africa; America; Bahrain; China; Egypt; France, Germany and UK pavilion; Tunisia; India; Indonesia; Iraq; Iran; Italy; Japan; Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Kuwait; Lebanon; Morocco; Pakistan; Palestine; Philippines; Qatar; Russian; Spain; Malaysia and Singapore pavilion; Syria; Thailand; Turkey; UAE; and Yemen, in addition to Khalifa Foundation and Fursati pavilions. Dubai’s Global Village will begin its 20th anniversary season from November 3, 2015, and will run for more than five months, until April 9, 2016.

The general admission tickets at Global Village are available for sale at all Global Village gates currently at a price of AED 15. Entrance is free for children under aged three, seniors, and special needs visitors. Mondays are family days unless it is a public holiday.
They added some exciting activities to enhance the customer experience this season are newly introduced trains that operate throughout the day – taking guests to and from the car park to the new iconic entrance ‘The Gate of The World’ for free. Further, the new ‘Gate of The World’ is the largest gate in Global Village’s history featuring 40 turnstile entrances and 40 ticketing counters. The ‘Main Cultural Stage’ has been enhanced to boost the audio/visual experience for the crowd. In addition, the expanded grass seating areas have created a much more relaxed and comfortable environment where an increasing number of families can enjoy picnics.
In global village the transportation is managed and operated by RTA, the traditional ‘Abras’ are used to transport visitors and take them on tours across Global Village’s central lake to view the pavilions and entire Global Village site from a different perspective. The Global Village Mini Train is ideal for little explorers, as it takes children on tour around the park, showing them the best of what it offers.
Musicians and singers from all over the world will gather at Global Village to put on spectacular shows, all included within the Global Village entry ticket. Guests and Visitors will be able to watch live musical performances in Arabic, Far Eastern, Indian, Afghani, and African artists and performers throughout the season.
The Global Village Thrill Shows have always been a wondrous spectacle for visitors of all ages. Guests and Visitors will be able to watch thrilling daredevils enacting the breathtaking stunts and fantastical performances.
There will be two unique high end production shows created specifically for Global Village based on cultural aspects. These are Fiestaval and Dreams, which are supported by spectacular street actors and performers from all over the world. Cultural Main Stage is going to offer you a whole new kind of entertainment!
Guests at Global Village will witness the unique illuminated monocycles with riders dressed in futuristic silver and white jump suits. Global Village’s street entertainment and atmosphere performances to give visitors an all-encompassing experience.
Each and every pavilion will accommodate dance and music that showcase the culture and heritage of the country they represent. So, the pavilions compete in bringing artistic teams to present their daily shows through a variety of episodes that are repeated three times a day, according to the schedule of every pavilion.
Stunning fireworks display competes with the lights beaming from the country pavilions to illuminate the pitch black, starry skies above this out of town attraction. Spectacular display of sound, color and music along with an evening of family fun like no other!
Restaurants and cafe:
There are more than 18 restaurants at Global Village serving local cuisines, international dishes and specialties. The open air restaurants and coffee shops provide the spectacular view of the lake. It is the right atmosphere to visitors as they shop and entertain at the park while enjoying Dubai’s clement weather and the taste of world cuisines. Global Village restaurants include international well-known brands and chain restaurants as well as pavilion restaurants representing different countries, they can feast and dine from a different country for a lasting memory.
It is a small open-fronted hut from which newspapers, refreshments, tickets, etc. are sold. Visitors can sample a colourful and truly international selection of handmade goods, artefacts and tasty goodies from over 100 kiosks at Global Village, adding colour and vibrancy to the event. Global Village’s history which has 40 turnstiles and 40 ticketing kiosks.
This represents various countries from around the world, selling their countries beautiful traditional products, clothes, food, electronics, antique items and carpets. The international pavilions at Global Village range from MENA and Far East regions, to Europe, Africa, America and South Asia.
Retail outlets at Global Village represent cultures. They exhibit products that align with this season’s grand vision of embracing the world in one place. The products ranging from handicrafts, traditional cuisines, to desserts, prepared afresh in front of visitors, apart from authentic products that draw tourists every season.
In global village the transportation is managed and operated by RTA. They set up 2 bus routes to allow the public affordable and easy-to-use methods of getting to Global Village to join in on the fun.
The Fantasy Island:
The Fantasy Island in the Global Village is operated and managed by the British Organization ‘Mellors Group’ with more than 100 years of experience in the field. The Fantasy funfair ground has several rides specially made with children in mind. This season, it gets bigger and better with new rides including Crazy Golf (Children Ride); Cape fear Ghost Train (Family Ride) and Loop fighter (Thrill Ride).
The Heritage Village at Global Village is operated by the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center. Visitors can walk through Heritage Village and see representations of Bedouin life.
The 3D Haunted House:
This is one of the most exciting features, which includes a frightening walk through a horrific maze, covered with all sorts of gruesome objects, plenty of scares etc.
The Animals Land:
This includes variety of moving sculptures of animals made of silicon. It is for educational and learning purposes.Pre-historic Oceanarium:
It brings to life sea creatures dating back to 200 million years, using latest 3D technology, to explore ocean’s depth and discover a world of wild predators.
